Rhodiola rosea, also known as “golden root” or “arctic root”, is a plant that grows in the cold regions of Europe and Asia. It is considered an adaptogen, a class of natural substances believed to stimulate the body’s resistance to physical, environmental, and emotional stressors. The plant is found in altitudes in the mountainous and arctic areas in Asia, Europe, and North America. Due to its specific growth conditions and habitat, Rhodiola rosea is not easily accessible, making it a valuable resource.
The root of Rhodiola rosea has a long history of use in traditional medicine. Some uses of this plant in traditional folk medicine have been reported to increase longevity, endurance and performance, disease tolerance at high altitudes, as well as to treat impotence, weakness, fatigue, and several other nervous system disorders. Extensive studies have been conducted to determine the medicinal effects of this plant in numerous disorders and conditions, including disorders of the central nervous system, immune system, heart, nervous system, viral, inflammatory, bacterial, cancer and liver. The plant is also used in the treatment of occasional anxiety, stress, and depression.
